Let’s dive in, so you can see how to make your money work for you with each one of the asset classes.

  1. Stocks

Stock is a type of investment where you own a share in a company that issues the stock. It is also a way the company raises money to expand, introduce new products or other initiatives.

When you invest in stocks, you do so expecting that the company’s value will either rise or fall.

There’re two ways to make money on stocks.

  • Dividends – This is what a company pays as a portion of its profits to you as a shareholder.
  • Unrealized gains – You have unrealized gains when you hang onto a stock that has gone up in value. So locking those gains when you sell the stock.

With 70trades, you can trade stocks for companies such as Apple, Walt Disney, Facebook, Citigroup, Google, General Electric, and others.

  1. Commodities

Commodities are tradable goods, such as Solver, Gold, Oil, Coffee, Corn, Copper, Natural Gas, and more.

Let me clarify that when you trade in commodities, you don’t physically buy and sell the tradable goods. No one will deliver Gold to you. Just like stocks, when you trade in commodities, you speculate on their market value.

It’s challenging to make money with commodities, but to do so you need to understand the market and what these different ways are;

  • Trade Commodity Stocks – you can buy and sell either commodity stocks, or stocks where their prices move based on the underlying prices of the commodity.

Trading in commodity stocks is straightforward and is also much less volatile in comparison to futures, which we will talk about next.

  • Trade Commodity Futures – A commodity future is simply a contract that makes a specified quantity of a particular commodity at a preset price and a future date.

Commodity futures trade on a particular financial market, and they are available for a wide variety of commodities, including; crude oil, ethanol, corn, and wheat.

Trade Commodity Futures Options – A futures option is your right to assume a future position at the underlying price of the commodity (strike price) and not for a specced period.

The option gives you (the holder) the right to buy or sell the contract. You’re free to exercise your right at any time before the time it was set to expire.

  1. Make money trading money (Currencies)

Currency pairs or currencies are the most traded assets on the Forex market. When you trade currencies, you buy one of the currencies in the traded pair while selling another.

For example, a currency quote for the EUR/USD pair might be 1.1256. Here, the base currency is the euro, while the U.S. dollar is the quote currency.

It means that one euro can buy 1.1256 U.S. dollars. How you make money in forex either when the value of a quoted currency appreciates or when the value of the base currency depreciates.

The forex exchange rate between the two currencies, all based on supply and demand, determines how many pounds you get for your dollar. Unlike trading in stocks, which can be more rigid, currency trading is incredibly liquid. If you speculate a currency will increase in value, you can buy it.

Some tradable currency pairs at 70Trades include; GBP/EUR,  EUR/USD, GBP/SEK, CAD/CHF, NZD/JPY, USD/PLN, and many more.

  1. Indices

Indices are fictional/imaginary portfolios that represent the value of publicly-traded firms.

Index funds, at their best, offer a way investors can track popular stock and bond market indexes at low-cost. In most cases, index funds outperform the majority of actively managed mutual funds.

Some of the world’s best-known indices are available to trade at 70Trades include CAC40, S&P 500, FTSE 100, IBEX 35, NIKKEI, DOW JONES, and others.
